Dear, women here’s the reality of reality TV

Reality TV sells, big time. Sometimes, you might not even be able to pinpoint what it is exactly that they do that has you so interested yet you are sold out to the show. I have seen women who narrate in detail some of the most prominent reality TV shows and you wonder if they even have a life of their own.
We get so caught up in the lives of others and dissect theirs and forget about ours. Even if you claim that it is they who decided to put their lives in the spotlight so you have every right to judge them, you should bear in mind that whatever opinions you have about their lives is none of their business as long as you tune in everyday to see what next they are up to.
What I find even more amusing is how we women tend to ‘identify’ with the reality TV stars. You go ‘aww’ and ‘eyya’ at intervals and try to explain what the characters are going through as if you are in their shoes but for goodness’ sake it is all showbiz and don’t forget that the ‘biz’ there means ‘business’.
So don’t lose yourself in other people’s lives or even make the mistake of trying to pattern your life around theirs. The way I see it, it’s a job for them and so they are making money, so how about you focusing on doing the same thing too—make your own money!
Reality shows sell a lie, more often than not so don’t, even for a second, think you are part of some celebrity’s life or that it really is reality. This is the sad truth of reality TV.
