Animals That Nigerians should never eat

AWARD6BASE
Human tastes indeed vary greatly. You would
be surprised what people would joyously sit
and cook. In fact, in some traditions, it is
culturally acceptable for these foods to be
eaten, despite how unappealing or they are
generally frowned upon. Let’s take a tour
through the land of forbidden meat delicacies.
Dog
It seems quite unfair that man’s best friend is
reduced to meat for many people. In their
defense, they claim it is very delicious but this
just seems wrong to many.
Pork
Other than the fact this animal is generally
considered dirty, it is religiously unacceptable
for many so scratch it off the menu for many
Nigerians. In the poor animal’s defense,
though, it is said that pigs are not particularly
dirty but because they lack sweat pores, they
have to wallow in whatever can cool their
temperatures, e.g mud.
Snake
These are seen as vile creatures and so the
thought of eating one is highly unsettling for
many Nigerians. Also, the superstition
surrounding how ‘demonic’ they are is enough
to send my countrymen and women running,
though I have heard it is also quite tasty.
Rat
Yup! This is actually a delicacy in one Nigerian
state, believe it or not. For a typical indigene of
that state, you will make his day by offering
him this as the meat in his food. No, I won’t
mention the tribe.
Cat
This is the super weird one because cats are
difficult to kill. Unlike dogs, how often do you
come across a dead cat on the road? Never,
right? Yet people have devised means of
capturing them and using this regal creature as
dinner.
Frog
Why oh why would you eat this? Yet there are
those who defend themselves that all animals
are open to man to kill and eat but come on,
mehn! Which of these would you like to try?
